Hello,
We are launching a website that will act as a green lifestyle coach. The project is in the finial stage before launch and we are in need of some bridge capital for web development.
On a financial side this is a highly lucrative, low overhead endeavor. On a social aspect, the program can be used to END Global Warming
The LLC is seeking 10 k in return for equity stock.
Please email me if interested in finding out further details.

Dear Friends,

A former colleague and (not former) friend, Brendan Whitty, is working
for a non-profit organization that connects private philanthropists with
effective and appropriate charitable organizations working in areas of
their interest. They specialize in India, Nepal and Afghanistan.

At the moment they are looking for reputable US or Canadian on-line and
paper media to publish an article about philanthropic giving, addressing
specifically "philanthropic return on investment".

Any leads or help is much appreciated, please contact Brendan (cc'd)
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 13 — The ambitious founders of Google, the popular search engine company, have set up a philanthropy, giving it seed money of about $1 billion and a mandate to tackle poverty, disease and global warming.

But unlike most charities, this one will be for-profit, allowing it to fund start-up companies, form partnerships with venture capitalists and even lobby Congress. It will also pay taxes.

Hawai`i Or Bust!

So we are clearing more and more road blocks on the way to Hawai`i. As of now we are down to a LapTop, some living supplies, and airfare.

Any of these would be welcomed were they to fall out of the sky, (bad pun there, airfare - fall out of sky). Of course we understand that what comes down must also go back up (ha ha), so we are willing to swap a VAIO DeskTop for a decent LapTop. A Mac LapTop is of no use to us as we are already a completely windows environment. Further efforts can be rewarded with a printer, various electronics, TONS of paperback and hardback Sci-Fi, gratitude, internet hosting, what have you.

Do we really expect to get any of this?
No.

Do we really deserve to get any of this?
Well, that depends on who you talk to.

What do you get out of giving us any of this?
Well, we are skilled computer nerds that will continue to maintain our online presence, and can offer free internet hosting for your personal or business website. Once in Hawai`i we can offer our skills in computer repair and upgrading as we can build computers from components as well as installing fresh operating systems. We are also experienced VJ Hosts, having honed our skills providing video and audio support to help run parties at private residences. And if you are not in Hawai`i it sure would be nice to know some computer nerds there who owe you a big favor for when you are vacationing there and really need some work done on your LapTop.

So if you are interested in helping us you can contact us directly through email or go to our Hawai`i website and use the PayPal or Amazon buttons, or just read our mini blog on Hawai`i.

africa bound...

Pleas forgive me if this is the wrong forum to be posting on. If it is, please, if someone could redirect me to the proper forum, i would be greatly obliged...

I am headed to Ghana next month for an internship in African woodworking/handicrafts techniques. A part of this internship, I will be assisting an art teacher in guiding classes for about 60-100 students, ages 4 and up, per day. As a side project, I will be holding acrobatic training classes for these kids, including trapeze, aerial ring, silks, partner acrobatics, and the like.
My question, my plea would be more accurate, is if there is anybody out there with the knowledge of how to get some funding for this project. Due to the internship, my flight and housing has been covered. Yet funding for the supplies, such as sport matts, carabeeners, protective braces, ropes, art supplies and the like, there is minimal to nothing. I will be doing it all from my own pocket, which has seen fuller days...:(
If there is any information about where I could find some sort of financial support for this project, please do let me know. I will be leaving in the middle of next month, and would like to get some kind of foothold before then.
Thank you in advance to all those who took the time to think about this.

Hey there, "Venture Philanthropy" members--

This Tribe doesn't have a moderator, but as a matter of policy, Tribe.net likes all groups to have a leader.
Could you collectively choose someone to moderate your Tribe?

When you've reached consensus, have the new moderator send a note to help@tribe.net, letting us know that you've selected a new leader.

Thanks --

computers for the 3rd world

Do you boys and girls have any experience in this particular field?

Refurbishing computers and installing Open Source operating systems with whole suites is something I can do (as can many others), so I'm thinking in getting my hands dirty and start sending computers to the third world.

It's amazing how much perfectly usable hardware pollutes the environment instead of helping with the schooling and alphabetization of many people.

Any suggestions?

Hi, I'm new to the tribe and just wanted to know what some of our philanthropical interests were. I am helping to get a library re-furbished for a children's home / center for economically and developmentally challenged kids. I love reading and books, so this one has been really exciting for me. It's also been challenging because I've had a lot of positive response and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm up to the task of channeling the overwhelming amount of talent all these super qualified people who have offered their services toward a common goal for the kids. Sometimes I wish I felt I was a better manager!

I also became interested in improving the education of girl children in Nepal, after visiting the country in 1998 as a Volunteer for Peace . If you're interested, I wrote a social media proposal for it on my website at http://www.globalbrainstorm.com/girlednep.html.

Hi all. I am very interested in the world of corporate-community involvement and in particular the arena of venture philanthropy. I have over 11 years of professional experience in the community/non-profit side of life (and an Master's Degree in Public Health) and now I'm ready to switch over to the funding side. Any leads are welcome!! Thanks! Glad to see so many people in this tribe!
